THANK YOU FOR ATTENDING MONTREUX CONGRESS
Dear colleagues and friends,
On behalf of the Hosts and of the Local Organizing Committee, it has been a great pleasure to welcome you in Montreux for the 13th congress of the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society (ISRS).
The congress was a great success!
With more than 770 participants, from over 50 different countries, it is the largest attended ISRS meeting ever. We also broke the record in terms of exhibitors and sponsors.
ISRS congresses have always been unique opportunities to gather all the professionals involved in radiosurgery, in the spirit of our multi-disciplinary society (neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and many other specialties were represented).
As a novelty, we have initiated a European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) endorsement of the congress, as well as joint sessions with the World Federation of Skull Base Societies (WFSBS) in order to increase complementarity and exchanges. The topics related to these sessions (i.e. brain metastases as well as skull-base and benign tumors) also represented the highest number of submitted abstracts, confirming the high attractivity generated by this approach, and the continuing increasing involvement of the radiosurgery community for the management of these disorders.
Also, we introduced new and related topics of interest, such as alternative focal approaches (for example, high-intensity focused ultrasound or HIFU), the interaction between immunotherapy and radiation, advances in medical imaging, and the growing role of big data and personalized medicine. This was addressed in the scientific program with key-note speakers and special lectures.
Again, we address our special thanks to Prof. Jean Regis, chairman of the Scientific Committee, and to its members, that have put together a strong, well-balanced, and varied scientific program, covering the scientific breakthrough and new developments in the perpetually evolving field of radiosurgery.
We thank you all for making the trip to Montreux and for your attendance that made this meeting unique.
We hope that you had a stimulating and scientifically productive meeting, as well as an enjoyable stay in the jazzy city of Montreux and in the surrounding Swiss Riviera.
Looking forward to seeing you in Rio for the 2019 ISRS Congress.
